| Inverters are used to provide shore power to your boat when
you're away from the dock. Inverters are powered from your house
battery bank (12/24/48 VDC) and provide 120/240 VAC, 60 Hz
power. Two types are available: modified and pure sine wave
versions. Modified sine wave is typically used when crude
power is needed to run items such as motors and light bulbs, while a
pure sine wave inverter is used when powering motors, lights and
electronics (TVs, computers, DVD players, microwave, etc.). Some
inverters are both an inverter and battery charger, recharging
your house battery bank when you plug in to shore power or operating
the onboard generator.
